The Humewood House is situated in a junction between the Cedarvale Ravine and the dense St. Clair Avenue, oriented such that its eastern and western facades are perpendicular to the sunrise and sunset. The Humewood house is characterized by dichotomies - work and rest, public and private. This progammatic split registers as a public bottom half and private top half.

The owners needed a home capable of organizing their broad programmatic demands. The ground floor is bisected by the long, deep kitchen where either end is flanked by seating, while the west side opens into the backyard garden. The basement is a collection of resting space - a bar to serve cocktails and a sauna to recover. The second floor mixes domestic and work life — their shared studio space inevtiably intersect with the daily descent from the third floor suite.
